Free Initial Washington Tax Answer
Ask one Washington tax question and we'll send a free, useful, source-supported initial answer. If your question needs deeper work, we'll explain why. An outside firm may charge separately for that work, and any referral is optional — you get the free answer either way.
What you get for free
- A useful, source-supported initial answer to your Washington tax question
- The reasoning, in plain English
- The facts and assumptions we relied on, and what is still uncertain
- Links to the primary sources we relied on (RCW, WAC, ETAs, Department of Revenue materials), when available
- If deeper work looks warranted: why, and what it might involve. An outside professional firm may charge separately for that work.
What one free answer covers
- One concrete Washington tax question
- One business or taxpayer, as you describe it
- One tax period (or how things stand today)
- Based on the facts you give us plus public Washington sources — not open-ended research
If your question needs more than a free answer
You still get the free initial answer first. Some questions need more — for example a filing position, refund claim, audit, appeal, ruling request, recurring compliance, a lot of documents, or someone to deal with the Department of Revenue for you. In that case we'll explain why. We may suggest an outside professional firm; that firm may charge separately, and using it is entirely your choice.
What this is — and isn't
This is research help: an initial answer to point you in the right direction. It is not legal, tax, or accounting advice from a CPA or law firm, and it is not representation, return filing, or Department of Revenue portal work. Washington Tax Desk is not a CPA or law firm and is independent of the Department of Revenue.
- No payment is required for the free initial answer
- No guaranteed tax savings, refund amounts, or outcomes
- Donation amounts elsewhere on this site are not service fees
How to ask
- Open the Contact form — the inquiry type is set to the free initial answer for you.
- Describe your question, the type of business, the tax period, and the key facts. Please don't include Social Security numbers, bank or card numbers, or tax account passwords.
- Press Send message. You'll see a confirmation once your message has reached us, or a clear error if it didn't send.
- A person at Washington Tax Desk reviews every answer before it is sent. We reply when capacity allows. We don't promise a specific turnaround. We reply by email.
